Troy's creative process begins with hand-drawn conceptual sketches, transferred to professional shop drawings and then rendered in 3D to refine each design's form, material, function and intricacies. Troy uses artisan craftsmanship and luxury materials to develop proportion, scale and finish in an original design language.
Curators, designers and private clients may commission one-of-a-kind pieces. Troy's furniture has been referred to as avant-garde, visionary and classic. Contemporary and modern this Art Deco-inspired cabinet/dresser is custom-made by hand and designed by Troy Smith Studio. The Macassar Ebony is finished in a super high gloss finish which requires over 10 coats. All hardware including the feet and pull knobs is hand-made in our workshops from solid brass and has a mirror-polished finish. The brass handles and feet are lacquered and then baked in an oven to a very hard finish that requires no polishing. The top of the cabinet has a 3/4" thick Nero Tunisi Marble top from Italy...
