About Arts 220
Fern Simon opened ARTS 220 in 1987 with a passionate mission to promote modern art and design. Our emphasis is on finding exceptional forms with a modernist aesthetic and innovative materials that integrate art and industry. An early champion of mid-century European and American modernists, ARTS 220 continues to offer significant work by Marianne Brandt, William Spratling, Piero Fornasetti, Roger Capron, Gilbert Valentin, Jean Cocteau, Robert Nickle, Pierre Cardin, and Chanel among others. Our inventory includes fine art, ceramics, jewelry, metalwork, and glass. Fern earned a Masters Degree in Art History from Northwestern University and worked at the Art Institute of Chicago before opening her store. She now sells online at 1stdibs and by appointment. ARTS 220 participated in the first Modernism Show in Winnetka in 1989 and has worked with museums and private collections both in the US and Europe.
