From the 1989 collection, this ensemble is done in a beautifully detailed silk brocade fabric creating a motif of whimsical butterflies and florals in vibrant colors of orange, yellow-green and cerise on a ground of a serene ocean blue. Lurex threads throughout give this ensemble an added majestic feel. The jacket is constructed in a classic 80s style with squared shoulders and a tapered sleeve. It is tailored nicely though the bodice and gives a nipped waist that is accented by a voluminous peplum that is attached on a slight angle which adds interest to the silhouette and allows for a more flattering fit. The ankle-length skirt is simplified to balance the drama of the top. It has a less structured body which allows for a gentle flouncing.
