Raised layers of molding surround a large landscape painting of ochre, brown, and gold. A protruding cornice of rounded molding adorns the frames just below the canvas, above a carved rectangular molding and raised kickplate. Pair of Large Antique Greek Olive Oil Jars from the Peloponnese Region, 19th C.
Located in Dallas, TX
Vessels such as this pair of large olive oil jars have been used for centuries throughout Greece and can still be found there today. Our pair, which dates to the 1800s, are known as koroniotiko pots, as they originated in the Peloponnese town of Koroni/Corone. The bulbous bodies have thick ridges that culminate just beneath the short necks, giving the functional pots (used to keep olive oil fresh) aesthetic individuality. Both pots have a striated coloration, although to different degrees, of ochre, cream, white, and brown over the traditional terra cotta orange. Our charming pair of Greek olive oil...

Large Antique French White Painted Trumeau Boiserie Mirror, Circa 1870
Located in Dallas, TX
Trumeau boiserie mirrors, such as this painted white offering from France, were designed to be placed on a wall in between two windows. The motifs and color palettes of these mirrors would often match the surrounding paneling. Based on the size (seven+ feet tall and over four and a half feet wide), our mirror would have been hung in a large room such as a salon. The inclusion of a floral latticework with canted upper corners that are topped by volute leaves indicates this mirror is in the style of the Regence Period. Also of note is the large foliate medallion that surmounts the lattice, flanked by C-scrolls that seamlessly transition into floral margents; these are traits of the Rococo style that emerged during the reign of the Regent. The shaped glass pane is surrounded by a border of beading set inside thick, protruding molding adorned with foliage. Our white trumeau mirror...

Circa 1880 French Carved Oak Demi Lune Buffet de Chasse
Located in Dallas, TX
From France, circa 1880, this exceptional buffet features curved ends, giving the cabinet an overall demilune shape. Carved by hand by an immensely talented woodworker, the motifs on the two center doors depict a fowl trophy (left door) and a fish trophy (right door), making this a buffet de chasse (hunting buffet). Both of the trophies, which are bas-relief, are surrounded by an arabesque of foliage, lozenges, and rinceaux, that is in turn encompassed by a rectangular molding adorned with a repeating latticework of lozenges. This same border also embellishes the two curved side doors, encircling a large bouquet of fruit and flowers carved in relief. The two center doors open to reveal a large compartment with a single shelf, while both of the side doors front separate compartments with a wedge-shaped shelf. Above each door is a belt drawer with small pendant pulls set within a sprawling foliate margent with floral terminals. Each drawer is flanked by two raised rectangular panels festooned with detailed leaf clusters. Directly beneath two of the leaf bouquets on the front façade are two protruding pilasters that separate the side doors from the main compartment doors. These supports have been carved with a fluted volute topped by a large leaf above a margent of assorted fruits. Beneath the pilasters is a protruding apron that is flush with the floor, carved with angular foliate niches and concentric roundels. More rounded version of the infilled niches grace the quarter-round molding that enhances the top, with a pull-out bread board that tops the front two drawers. The craftsmanship of our demi lune buffet...
