Salvatore Colacicco is a world-renowned marine artist who was
born in 1935 in Bellagio, near Lake Como and studied at Brera Academy,
Milan. He has been living in England for over thirty years. Nearly all
Salvatore Colacicco's paintings during that time have been
exported to the United States and sold through Tonkins of Nantucket Island.
These now adorn the walls of many a Board Room and Directors
Office throughout the States.
Colacicco's style of painting very much reminds one of
marine artists throughout the 19th century with an obvious Italian feel.
Among Colacicco's achievements were 26 panels illustrating the
history and development of the paddle steamer
(of which he had made a special study of those used on the Italian Lakes),
painted for the Russell Cotes Museum in Bournemouth and
most works by Salvatore Colacicco fetch good figures even at auction

Wilson Bigaud is an idea artist in who showcases visual ideas in many of his paintings. In this work, a married Haitian couple tunes their radios in sync as they lie in bed. Bigaud was greatly interested in radios, which appeared in many of his works. This work rises to the level of Surrealism in that Bigaud is doing more than just depicting a normal bedroom moment. There is something very strange and bizarre in the couple's synchronized actions. Also of note, it looks like the woman is swallowing the edge of the radio. Pioneering female illustrator Gwenda Morgan creates an exuberantly complex image of a squad of broom-riding - pointed-hatted witches with black cats in tow. They fly through an inky black moonlit sky and are witnessed by only a rooftop owl. With the simple means of black and white, Morgan has rendered a highly charged composition that pluses with electricity. The whole image is on the cusp of being abstract while being representational. Printed from the original block as part of the suite of 8 prints that accompanied the limited edition book Diary of a Land Girl, Whittington Press, 2000. The suite of prints was included with the first 50 copies of the book, and a further 8 suites were printed, from which this print comes.
Gwenda Morgan (1 February 1908 – 1991) was a British wood engraver. She lived in the town of Petworth in West Sussex.
Early life
Morgan was born in Petworth, her father having moved there to work at the ironmongers, Austen & Co, of which he later became proprietor. He was the son of a Welsh-born military farrier.
Education
Following school in Petworth and at Brighton and Hove High School, Morgan, studied at Goldsmiths' College of Art in London from 1926. From 1930 she attended the Grosvenor School of Modern Art in Pimlico where she was taught and strongly influenced by the principal, Iain Macnab. The Grosvenor School was a progressive art school and the championing of wood engraving and linocuts fitted with its democratic approach to the arts.

The son of an English father and a Dutch mother, Harry Leith-Ross was born in the British Colony of Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean a thousand miles off the southeast coast of Africa. His first formal art instruction began in England under Stanhope Forbes, followed by studies with Jean Paul Laurens at the Academie Julian in Paris. Leith-Ross came to the United States to enroll at the National Academy of Design in New York City in 1910, and then to Woodstock, in 1913. It was in Woodstock at the Art Students League, under the tutelage of Birge Harrison and John F. Carlson, that Leith-Ross would receive the training that most influenced his career as an artist.
