About the Item

"Circus City" (2022) by street artist Kid Hazo 24 x 36 x .75" Archival ink on aluminum. Sign art, satire, text, play on Circuit City logo. Red, black and white. Text reads: "CIRCUS CITY - WHERE YOU CLOWNS ARE STATE OF THE ART." ABOUT THE ARTIST Kid Hazo is a Philadelphia-based street artist who considers himself a prop comedian. He reworks brand logos for parody's sake and to infuse the streets with comic relief. Beyond the streets, he has exhibited at Paradigm Gallery, Navy Yard and Deep Space Gallery. His work has been featured in Mutual Art, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Jersey City Times. Kid Hazo came onto the urban art scene in 2013 with a series of comical location specific street signs and since then he has expanded his public art into satiric installations, interventions, and performance pieces. He has an enormous social media following and now works with arts organizations and community groups on various projects. His original inspiration came from street-side branding parodies and put his own spin on it he added not only street signs but also props, a form of street art that he loves most -- art that interacts with urban spaces as they are. To him, ideal street art is something that works with a preexisting space, which is why a lot of his work is site-specific. He qualifies his aesthetic as minimalist and pop art inspired.
