Whittaker was a British abstract painter whose work is characterized by hard edge colorful stripes. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1962-66 and won the Mark Rothko Memorial Award in 1973 at the recommendation of Bridget Riley. His career spanned 40 years of active painting and exhibitions and lecturing on art.
