About the Item

This Artist is making great waves in the Art world Once hampered by the ‘oldie’ title, Aplin now eagerly embraces this title, as age depicts a life lived and experiences learned. Aplin works as the designer in her highly awarded design and landscaping business. As a self-taught artist, Aplin has used her design skills to artfully create true, expressionist abstract artworks. Colour is Aplin strong point, while the juxtaposition of shapes and lines, often geometric, enhance the movement within every work. Many works have considerable depth, from multi-layering. Singulart, a collaboration between the Van Gogh Gallery and the Paris Cont. Art Fair, Mads Milano, Kreta Event and so on have been experiences, Living in regional Victoria, Australia, she has been actively painting since 2008, having loved modern art since childhood. Aplin is very aware in her art, that in nature, nothing is perfect, so follows the tradition at all times of the wabi-sabi way of viewing and creating works of art. With this knowledge comes an enormous appreciation for things that look different, lines that don’t quite line up, squares that are imperfect……crude works in fact. Original personally signed by Artist 76cm x 91cm On wrapped canvas with wide edges. Can be either landscape or portrait. Aerosol acrylic, acrylics, opaque pigment acrylic, charcoal, fixative, vinyl. Once again, a paint-over using the reductive method, while providing a great background for my love of imperfection. The final touch of drips of white paint softens the whole effect. Previously the dark green vinyl paint was too intense – the white drips have really given the work a lift. CHEQUERED 76cm x 91cm Can be used in either portrait or landscape mode. Mixed media includes aerosol acrylic, acrylic, charcoal, opaque pigmented acrylics, oil sticks. Painted on wrapped canvas with wide edges striped with black and white. A reworked piece using the reductive method to retain some of the earlier work. It was boring, so I decided to tart it up. The colours are simple; the effect soft and calming and almost mesmerising.
