About the Item
The Dutch multidisciplinary artist, Ger Doornink, specialises in painting, illustration and photography. Time spent living in Tokyo, Milan and currently Amsterdam, has heavily influenced his aesthetic. Strong lines and bright colours depict portraits of women. Doornink’s eye for design and close links to the world of fashion is evident, along with his fascination with the Italian and Dutch masters. Throughout his long and varied international career in design, photography, fashion and the arts, knowledge of diverse techniques has been garnered, coming together on his canvases to portray beauty itself.
'Sensai' is part of Ge Doornink's newest series "Japanese Portraits with Rich Textures". One can see the direct influence of the artist's time in Japan when he was younger, as well as his exploration of new materials and the use of objects in his composition. Doornink goes on creating beauty in the most unexpected yet harmonious ways.
