About the Item
This Underwater World series is inspired by the oceans. Most of the works are specifically inspired by a set of tidal pools I found at the edge of the Pacific Ocean on the west coast of Vancouver Island at a beach called Botany Bay in Port Renfrew, British Columbia. The tidal pools, only visible at very high tides, are each little evolving worlds.
Sea Shadow #103 is by artist Ellen Hart. Sea Shadow #103 investigates the ubiquitous patterns of light, shadow and reflection that we all experience daily, but that we rarely stop to notice. The works reflect a perceptual duality: a tangible, distinct moment and place when the source pattern is found, intertwined with the fleeting and ephemeral nature of time. As light and atmospheric conditions shift, my source patterns morph, move and change.
