Anna Sheffield makes jewelry with meaning that marks the special moments in life. She’s committed to sustainable practices, her adornments are coveted darlings of Instagram, and her collectors include the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Meryl Streep. Widely known for her exquisite engagement rings and wedding rings, Sheffield also makes striking accessories like chain necklaces and hoop earrings intended for everyday wear.
Sheffield was born in New Mexico in 1974. Her early life in the beautiful American Southwest had an enduring impact on her future career in jewelry. Sheffield was enamored with the natural splendor of her native state, as well as the Native American art and design she experienced there. Her roots inspired her to study fine art and sculpture at the Academy of Art in San Francisco.
Sheffield moved to New York City and launched a jewelry line called Big Bang in 2001. While she never formally studied jewelry design, she had an eye for craft and began experimenting with an elegant yet eclectic style. In 2009, Sheffield was ready to establish her eponymous brand.
Sheffield’s delightful and often surprising combinations of sparkling diamonds, rare gemstones and vintage Art Deco-inspired details lend her jewelry a bespoke feel. Her emerald rings and turquoise necklaces are wholly sculptural — Sheffield’s wide range of influences include the artists of the Wiener Werkstätte collective and its cofounder, Austrian architect Josef Hoffman — and each piece is made from hand-picked materials and crafted by skilled jewelers and seasoned setters in Los Angeles or New York.
Another contributing factor to Sheffield's popularity in American jewelry is her brand's commitment to sustainability. The company uses recycled gold, single-origin gems and conflict-free diamonds. Brides magazine listed Anna Sheffield Fine Jewelry as one of the "14 Sustainable Jewelry Brands to Wear on Your Wedding Day."
Sheffield currently operates the Anna Sheffield Jewelry store on Bleecker Street in New York City and Anna Sheffield Los Angeles in West Hollywood.
