This exceptional and unusual antique Victorian sterling silver vesta box has a rectangular, scalloped shaped form. The body of the vesta box is embellished with embossed lobed decoration accented with an applied oval thumbpiece/striker to the anterior side. The hallmarked hinged cover of this collectable antique box is ornamented with an impressive two-toned blue enamel quatrefoil design incorporating scrolling leaf design to either end, with a central spiraling leaf motif encircled with a red enamel border. The cover is further ornamented with an applied trellis design within a plain rectangular border, all encompassed with tooled decoration detailing the lobed form. The hinged silver vesta box cover opens to reveal the original hinged, bright cut engraved decorated silver gilt internal cover allowing access to the match compartment. An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian English sterling silver combination scent bottle / pill box / vinaigrette; an addition to our diverse collectable silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver combination vinaigrette / pill box / scent bottle has an oval barrel shaped form. The body of the vessel is embellished with applied plain broad girdles replicating the details of the bilge and quarter hoops, which provide anchor points for the original link chain. The piece retains the original hallmarked screw fit cover to the scent bottle, conjoined to one of the aforementioned anchor points with a link chain. One end of the vessel is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover, which when opened reveals the vinaigrette with the original hinged grille and gilt interior. The gilded grille is ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pierced decorated bordered scroll and leaf design. The hallmarked hinged cover to the opposing end forms a pill box and opens to reveal the original gilt interior; this versatile box could be used for a multitude of functions.
