HARTUNG - original abstract lithograph- Limited editionsigned painting
By Hans Hartung
Located in CORAL GABLES - MIAMI, FL
HARTUNG - original abstract lithograph- Limited editionsigned painting Hans Hartung is commonly presented as a standard-bearer for the "Ecole de Paris" and the "lyrical abstraction" and primarily considered as a post-war painter. Nevertheless, in the late 30s, the German born artist has already participated in numerous exhibitions throughout Europe. His career really began in 1922: aged just eighteen, even he doesn’t know the theories of Kandinsky, he produces a series of abstract watercolors striking by their sheer expressiveness. This is the beginning of a career that lasted nearly seventy years and was punctuated by constant technical innovations. Paradoxical artist, Hartung will often be at the opposite of the image the critics build of him, resulting in a "distorted reception" (Annie Claustres). Presented as a champion of a gestural, lyrical and emotional painting...

With Many a Sunlit Arrow
Located in Clayton, MO
In "With Many a Sunlit Arrow," color, line, shape, and texture collide on Kozuke ivory paper crafted from the fibers of the kozo plant. This one-of-a-kind, encaustic monotype illuminates a poetic interior landscape. The softness of the washi paper juxtaposed with the lush, textured encaustic/mixed media bring a sense of fragility and lightness to the artwork. Process: Alena's artistic approach is intuitive and gestural. She often works with a limited color palette of encaustic pigment and uses an iterative and spontaneous approach to apply the media. The final phases of creation sometimes include additional intuitive mark-making, subtle line work and sentimental hand-written text from historical, contemporary, or autobiographical sources. Washi Paper: The texture and slight distress in select areas near certain media application is intentional and intended to be part of the overall aesthetic. Shipping: The artwork will be rolled, shipped in a tube, and take approximately 5 business days. For shorter delivery timelines please message Alena directly to make arrangements. Matte and Frame Ideas: Float frames (glass/no glass over the monotype; glass will "flatten" the monotype) Traditional frames with or without a matte When framing the monotype a light ivory or white matte board illuminates the colors. For assistance and/or advice with framing and mounting the monotypes, please contact me directly. Signature and Certificate All artworks are signed on the back in pencil and include the title, creation year, and my signature. A certificate of authenticity is also included with the artwork. ++++ Alena Ahrens is a contemporary American-Asian artist. She studied performance art at MoMA...

Untitled Abstract Cuban Painting Latin American Expressionist
By Baruj Salinas
Located in Surfside, FL
Baruch Salinas ( Havana , 1938 ) Cuban painter , sculptor , engraver and ceramist of Jewish origin, was born in Havana, Cuba in 1938. Salinas's career began in the field of architecture. He graduated from Ohio University with an architect degree and immigrated from Cuba to Miami, Fla. Permanently in 1959. Salinas settled in Miami and later moved to Barcelona, where he studied with artists Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies. Baruj Salinas, a Jewish Cuban artist, was born in Havana, Cuba in 1935. His ancestors came from a small town in the north of Spain, which was known for its salt mines (Minas de Sal). Following the Jews expulsion from Spain in 1492, many Jewish families went to Turkey. Baruj Salinas’s family settled in Silibria, Turkey, a small town west of Istanbul. His family lived in Turkey until the 1920’s when, as a result of the Greco-Turkish Wars, many Jewish families decided to move to the Americas, settling in Cuba Although architecture informed its early works, it gradually moved towards a purely abstract expression. His work resembles pictures of space, where color is more important than form and it becomes a main theme. There are traces, too, of Jewish traditions, but being born in Cuba has made its impact. For him, Cuba is the tropics and sugar cane, so is the sun and the light. He will never stop being Cuban. Salina's paintings can be seen in important collections around the world, such as the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona, the National Museum of Catalunya , Barcelona, the National Institute of Fine Arts , Mexico City, the Uri Museum Beit, Israel, the Fort Lauderdale Museum of the Arts, Florida, the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Phoenix Art Museum, Arizona.
