The apartment was tiny, as hotel rooms tend to be, and clad with paper-thin walls allowing sound to pass from one apartment to the other. At the time, John’s artwork consisted of pounding copper sheets into tables which was a noisy endeavor to say the least. Following several noise complaints from the neighbors, John had a dream that he was living in a ramshackle house but with plenty of room to work and no attached neighbors. Found Object Table/Pedestal with Drawers, Found Wood Various Materials, Painted
By John Seubert
Located in Chicago, IL
Made from found and reclaimed wood, each of John Seubert's crash tables are unique and meticulously crafted. He calls them crash tables because they are a collision of parts created from table legs, stair railings, chair backs, etc. which are mitered together to form a solid construction. Once assembled, the table is painted and then distressed to give it an antiqued appearance. The top center drawer is created from an antique Kraft American Cheese wooden box. Created from salvaged and recycled materials, this pedestal table represents the utmost in sustainable design.
