More about Judy Chicago
Born Judy Cohen in Chicago, Illinois, in 1939, Chicago attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of California, Los Angeles. Chicago’s early work was Minimalist, and she was part of the landmark Primary Structures exhibition in 1966 at The Jewish Museum in New York. She turned to feminist content in the late 1960s. At this time she changed her last name to Chicago, the location of her birth.
Believing in the need for a feminist pedagogy for female art students, Chicago began the first Feminist Art Program at California State University, Fresno, in 1970. The following year, with artist Miriam Schapiro, she co-founded the Feminist Art Program at California Institute of the Arts, Valencia. Womanhouse (1972), a collaborative installation the two artists created with their students, transformed an abandoned building into a house representative of women’s experiences.
Chicago is perhaps best known for her iconic The Dinner Party (1974–1979), which celebrates women’s history through place settings designed for 39 important women. The monumental, collaborative project incorporates traditional women’s crafts such as embroidery, needlepoint, and ceramics.
Chicago’s work has continued to address themes from women’s lives with The Birth Project (1980–1985) and The Holocaust Project (1985–1993). She is a prolific lecturer and writer, and she has taught at Duke and Indiana Universities and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her numerous awards include grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Getty Foundation and four honorary doctorates. She currently resides with her husband, photographer Donald Woodman, with whom she collaborates on artistic and teaching opportunities.

Israeli Modern Passover Lithograph Silkscreen David Sharir Holiday Art Serigraph
By David Sharir
Located in Surfside, FL
This is a mixed lithograph and serigraph silkscreen as per descriptions i read. this is not signed or numbered. it is a rare artists or printers proof print. It depicts Moses and Aaron at the top and I believe it relates to Passover and the exodus from Egypt.
David Sharir was born in 1938 in Tel Aviv, Israel and currently resides there.
David Sharir, the son of Russian immigrants, was born in Israel. Beginning his study of art in Tel Aviv and continuing in Florence and Rome, where he studied architecture and theater design. The brightly colored costumes and intricate stage designs he created for these productions have profoundly influenced his art. When Sharir moved to Jaffa in 1966, his hallmark style was truly developed. Studio, family, and spiritual devotion all serve as inspiration for the imagery in his work. His evolving style combines personal experience, Biblical symbolism, and fantasy.
David Sharir, born 1938, Tel Aviv. Was among the first artists to settle in Old Jaffa in 1966. He depicted biblical subjects with a touch of humour and designed sets and costumes for the theatre and opera.

Vintage Judy Chicago Feminist Artist Mod Cloisonne Enamel Earrings Pop Art
By Judy Chicago
Located in Surfside, FL
A pair of new old stock, vintage Judy Chicago earrings in a rainbow and two tone purposely mismatched set. it has a pop art sensibility to it. This is not by Acme studios. It just has her signature on the back. This came in with a large collection of new old stock vintage Jewelry from the legendary Acme Studio which created many revolutionary jewelry items. It was handmade in the 1980s using the intricate cloisonné process, an ancient technique for decorating metal; hence any imperfections within the colors are to be expected and inherent which makes it unique and one-of-a-kind.
The Memphis Designers for Acme collection debuted in 1986, at the opening of the Memphis/Milano exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York City. The entire collection is in the permanent collection of the Groninger Collection in The Netherlands and is represented in other museum collections worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum in New york city. In 1981 Ettore Sottsass formed a design collaborative name Memphis Design. The Memphis Design Group drew inspiration from such movements as Art Deco and Pop Art producing jewelry, furniture, lighting and fabrics from 1981 to 1988. The rare designs by members including Nathalie du Pasquier, Andrea Branzi, Martine Bedin, Matteo Thun and Peter Shire are often characterized by zany colors and asymmetrical shapes. The group designed many postmodern furniture, fabrics, ceramics, glass, and metal objects until 1987. The name "Memphis" came from Bob Dylan's Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again, which was playing during the group's inaugural meeting. Inspired by art deco, art nouveau, and pop art, the group created many bold, colorful, geometric styles that departed from the rigid and dark trend during the 1970s.
From 1985 to 1992, Acme founders Adrian Olabuenaga and Leslie Bailey produced more than 100 different earrings, brooches, and necklaces by design titans like Ettore Sottsass, Joanna Grawunder, Martine Bedin, Matteo Thun, Alessandro Mendini, and George Sowden, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Marco Zanini, as well as architects Alessandro Mendini, Stanley Tigerman, Richard Meier, Robert A.M. Stern, Florida architect Laurinda Spear, New Jersey-based Michael Graves, New York’s Peter Eisenman and Argentine architect Alberto Olabuenaga (the jeweler’s father) also designed for the project.
California artists Billy Al Bengston, laddie John Dill, Ronnie Cutrone, Charles Arnoldi and Ken Price all designed for Acme Studio as well as famed Playboy Magazine artist Patrick Nagel.

In Praise of Prairie Dogs (Nod on Species Extinction by feminist Icon)
By Judy Chicago
Located in New Orleans, LA
the words: "Human beings are not the only creatures who kiss" create a canopy over the main creatures.
Judy Chicago created this six run, eleven color lithograph in an edition of 95 on Blue Pescia paper (paper size is 22 x 18 in). Reference Tamarind 19-325. The Tamarind chop is on lower left and printer's chop on lower right.. It is signed by Chicago on lower right. This summer, feminist icon, artist, writer, and educator Judy Chicago was in the workshop collaborating with Master Printer Valpuri Remling on a special edition for the Collectors Club. The eleven-color lithograph she created brings attention to impending species extinction, and continues her extensive work in printmaking.
Chicago has spent her career bringing visibility to subjects that are not widely represented in the history of art. Internationally known for The Dinner Party, an epic installation comprised of a banquet of ceramic table settings honoring influential women in Western civilization, Chicago has worked tirelessly to highlight the social and cultural contributions of women. Now 80 years old, sporting brilliant purple hair and enjoying broad critical recognition and major museum exhibitions, Chicago has achieved a new level of art celebrity status. She is utilizing this hard-earned platform to focus attention around species extinction.
