About the Item
A Fine Irish Georgian Chimneypiece Circa 1770
The stepped and panelled jambs are inlaid with powerfully figured convent Siena marble standing on moulded block feet. The frieze has paterae corner blocks, convent Siena on either side of the centre tablet, which has an oval plaque featuring a harp with olive branches inset into Siena marble. The archietctural shelf above breaks forward over the corner blocks.
