Chinoiserie orange enameled box by Louis Kuppenheim. Outstanding rare box, created during the art deco period in the city of Pforzheim Germany, back in the late 1930. This wonderful box is closely to mint condition, designed with cushioned shapes and chinoiserie patterns at the Louis Kuppenheim silversmith workshop. Crafted in solid .935/.999 silver, with gilt interiors and embellished with chiseled borders. Has an exceptional workmanship as you expect of the workshop of Louis Kuppenheim, with remarkable vivid orange enamels on both faces and the the four lateral panels. The main figure is a bird resting in a golden tree, which is made up with multicolor cloisonné technique. As a note, this box can be actually used for presentation cards and is fitted with an integrated mechanical push button. Weight: 125.40 Grams, (80.38 Dwt). Measurements: 59 mm by 84 mm by 15 mm (2.32 x 3.31 x 0.59 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with German marks, the mark for the assay of the .935 silver, the box model number and signed, "DRGM 935 MADE IN GERMANY 2". Louis Kuppenheim The company was grounded in 1854 by Louis Kuppenheim (1824-1889) and Heinrich Witzenmann, specialized in silver and gold and enameled artefacts. On the World Exhibition in 1900 the firm received a gold medal for a letter opener. In that same year the company opened a branch in the Rue Richelieu 67 in Paris. In these years some designs by Hans Christiansen were executed, amongst them very delicately enameled silver cigarette cases...

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique German 800 standard silver and erotica enamel cigarette case; an addition to our diverse range of continental silverware This exceptional antique German 800 standard silver cigarette case has a plain rectangular form with rounded corners. The anterior cover is embellished with an impressive enamel panel depicting a nude woman with long curling brown hair, grasping a stemmed rose and lounging against a sheer flowing fabric wrap. The posterior cover and rounded sides of this cigarette case are plain and unembellished. This case is fitted with a plain rounded thumbpiece and push fit catch, which when released reveals two hinged compartments. This impressive example of antique silverware retains the original gilt interior. The hallmarks struck to the interior of this antique German silver cigarette case include: Maker's mark: LR (untraced) National mark/reichsmark: Crescent moon and crown (Halbmond und Krone) Silver quality/purity mark: 800 (800/1000) Antique cigarette cases such as this are highly desirable.
