Great Shape & Color, Antique Tea Caddy inNutwood with Brass Lock and Hinges

About the Item

A very pleasing to the eye, early 1800s triple compartment tea caddy. This marvellous tea caddy is in very good condition and the patinated nutwood has a truly warm, deep and rich patina. The combination of the majestic shape and the stunning patina makes this little gem an absolute joy to look at. All lids to the three compartments are still there too and for those who did not yet know, one compartment would be used for keeping green tea, one would be used for keeping black tea and one would be used for mixing the two to get a preferred taste. The inner lining was mostly made of tin foil and that was there so that the natural tea flavour would not 'blend' with the organic wood of the box. This fine antique comes with the original hinges and a good working lock and key. Nowadays this fine box can be used for all kinds of purposes, but on display as the beautiful and hand-crafted antique that she is, she will never fail to impress either. Mind you, perfect packing and delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days are complimentary. Wherever you may live on our beautiful planet.
