French Louis XV Style Mid-19th Century Ormolu and Marble Cassolettes
About the Item
A pair of impressive French mid 19th century Louis XV st. ormolu and Bréche de Violette marble cassolettes. Each is raised on a square Bréche Violette marble base with concave corners and ormolu trim. The marble socle is adorned with an ormolu wreath at the base and top. The baluster shaped marble body is heavily decorated with opulent and finely chased ormolu foliate mounts. A fluted scrolled ormolu mounts adorns the neck below the removable ormolu lid with berried acorn finial. All original gilt.
