Very Good Oriental Inspired Gilt Brass Repeating Carriage Clock, Circa 1890

About the Item

A very handsome & heavy cast 19th century French carriage clock with oriental inspired accents, the case showing stylized bamboo-shaped columns rising to a pagoda-style top fitted with a swing carrying handle and push-tab for the repeat mechanism. The white enameled face with blackened Roman numerals & pierced sweep hands, signed at the bottom with retailer marks for Jackman & Son, Goldsmiths - Bath. The reverse showing a hinged glass paneled door fronting an 8 day movement striking the half & full hour on a coil gong as well as the hour repeat feature. Complete with an associated key. Height, 6.25" high (minus the handle).

    Wear consistent with age and use. In good working order and in good condition overall with only one minor area of crazing to the enamel face, bottom right. Unfortunately due to the sensitive nature of antique clock mechanisms there is no return policy for this item.
