French 18th Century Louis XVI Period Oak Grandfather Clock
About the Item
A most elegant Danish 18th century Louis XVI period oak grandfather clock. The clock is raised by fine bun feet below a mottled finally carved foliate band. The case displays one door with elegant ormolu hinges, a pianist keyhole escutcheon, striking finally detailed floral and foliate scrolled designs and charming interlocking carvings centered by a circular window. The display compartment above showcases the beautiful clock face with Roman and Arabic numerals and pierced ormolu minute and hour hands. The top displays two doors, one at the front retaining its original glass pane and one to the side, each decorated with richly carved geometric intertwined foliate designs below the superb lightly curved mottled top crown.
