French Rooster Sculpture with Green & Black Accents from the Mid-20th Century

About the Item

A French vintage rooster sculpture from the mid-20th century. We all know that eagles are the symbol for America. Roosters are the French national emblem. This particular one is made of light colored composition and stands tall as it surveys the world ahead. It seems to be caught in motion as it steps forward with its left foot, ready to welcome the day ahead. This circa 1950 French rooster is green with black accents. Skilfully carved, this piece shows excellent detail everywhere, from the feathers on its tail to the ridges on its feet to the curves of the weeds through which it is walking. This elegant bird would make a wonderful addition to any living room or entryway or den.
