Chelsea Pottery Studio Pottery Figural Courtroom Scene
About the Item
A stylish and unusual studio pottery model of a Courtroom scene by Chelsea Pottery, London and dating from the 20th century. The courtroom is modeled as a stage setting with three walls open to the front and with a judge seated at a bench with the accused to his left with with two lawyers in wigs and gowns, one seated and one standing to the opposite side. The model is simply portrayed and detailed and its simplicity is reminiscent of some of the very early English pottery figure work. The scene is hand crafted and decorated in colored glazes and is incised and titled 'Courtroom' to the back and marked Chelsea Pottery Made in England.
