Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Silvered Bronze and Marble Cassolettes
About the Item
A stunning and extremely decorative pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period Rouge Griotte marble, ormolu and silvered bronze cassolettes. Each cassolette is raised by a striking Rouge Griotte marble base with superb finely detailed pierced fitted ormolu plaques of interlocking geometric designs flanked by three block reserves with remarkable scrolled foliate ormolu feet in an impressive satin and burnished finish. Three elegant lightly curved supports lead upwards centering a charming foliate finial amidst beautiful foliate designs and a lovely richly chased berried laurel wrap around band. The remarkable topie shaped Rouge Griotte marble bodies above are encased within exceptional mottled wrap around ormolu bands with lovely silvered bronze rosettes and exceptional richly chased rams heads with stunning intricately detailed swaging berried laurel garlands draped from their mouths. Above is the outstanding eternal flame ormolu finial amidst a beautiful silvered bronze acanthus leaf reserve.
