French Ceramic Duck Flower Vase by Albert Thiry '1994'

About the Item

French ceramic duck flower vase (1994) by Albert Thiry. A creamy-white glaze contrasts with a delicate green which progresses in intensity on the piece's wings. The markings and colouring are quintessential Albert Thiry. The individual flower holes make for a very unique, decorative piece which will surely be a conversation piece. It is signed 'Thiry 94' on the underside. In very good overall condition with only a nearly imperceptible nick in the duck's bill (a magnifying glass would help). Please enjoy the many photos that accompany this listing. Upon request a video of this piece will be provided. This gallery finds that Thiry's works are more and more in demand in overdue recognition of his artistic creativity. About the Artist: Albert Thiry (1932-2009) was born in Nice, France. His family moved to Vallauris where he spent most of the school holidays in the potteries; in 1956 he was taken on as an assistant decorator with an opportunity to make his own pieces. Albert and his wife, Pyot, set up their own pottery in 1961. Their standard production, in Vallauris clay with added grog to emphasise rusticity, resulted in delightful pieces both highly elaborate and utilitarian. Dimensions: H 11.5 cm / 4.5" W 34 cm / 13.4" D 12 cm / 4.7".
