Pair of Antique Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Vases

About the Item

This exquisite pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain vases have an overall scrolling vines design. Around the base are lotus panels. A band of ruyi-shaped floral patterns adorns the top of each vase. Two lion-head handles are attached to each vase. This pair of dynamic vases blends earlier vine scroll decoration with a Qing vessel shape. Made in the Qing dynasty, in the second half of the 19th century, they measure 18 inches tall x 8 inches at the widest point. Condition: Excellent Price: $14,200 for the pair Background Since its creation in the 14th century, Chinese and overseas consumers have long appreciated Chinese blue and white porcelain. Blue and white porcelain production peaked during the 18th century when Emperor Qianlong and wealthy Qing customers patronized a significant quantity of blue and white products. In the 19th century, the love for blue and white porcelains continued, and they were beloved decors in Qing interior design. In addition, the Aesthetic Movement launched in England further fanned the "blue and white fever" fire in the late 19th century, which continues to this day.
