Purple Japonist Art Nouveau Pottery by Eugene Lion Vase

About the Item

Purple Japonist Art Pottery by Eugene lion vase A perfect piece of Japonist ceramic art. By French art potter Eugene Lion, in a very interesting and unusual shape in stoneware, glossy mottled purple hues with subtle speckled mix of shades. Slightly rustic, bears all the characteristics of a handmade potter, particularly the rim. Would be beautifully matched with our ‘Liberty of London’ silk scarf cushion (pillow) in a soft purple Japonist pattern or silk Jacamar mosaic rose pattern scarf cushion (pillow). Would fit well with Arts & Crafts furniture. A superb unique find. In perfect condition. Color: Blue, mauve, violet, lavender, lilac, purple, green, turquoise, grey (gray) white. • Rare Riessner and Kessel Amphora Ceramic Art Nouveau Pottery Basket
    Located in Belfast, Northern Ireland
Rare Riessner and Kessel Amphora Ceramic Art Nouveau Pottery Basket A charming and unusual piece from the well known ceramic factory Amphora of Riessner & Kessel in Turn-Teplitz. Made in the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the area called Bohemia, now referred to as the Czech Republic. In the form of a basket shape decorated with simulated ‘jewels’ of color. It displays a number of stamps and factory marks: Austria, a circular mark with double headed eagle which states Imperial Amphora and an impressed crown. It has two different Slavic townscapes including city walls and magical rooftops on each facade along with numerous star motifs depicted in different enamel colors. The firm’s most important works were made between 1894 and 1904, they were almost all in the Art Nouveau style with plants, animals, mythical creatures and, as in this case, an uncommon and desirable romantic medieval Bohemian landscape. A very quant and rare collector’s item or unique home accessory. Would go with many of our vintage and antique one-of-a-kind cushions and pillows. A subpart ornament paired...
