Vicke Lindstrand, Ceramic Seashell Vase, for Ekeby Sweden, Scandinavian Modern

About the Item

Vicke Lindstrand 1904–1983 swedish designer and artist. He started working with drawing commercial posters and was handpicked by Simon Gate in the 1920s to work at Orrefors. He was later artistic leader at Kosta and Upsala-Ekeby. He mainly worked with glass and ceramics. He had his breakthrough at the New York World Fair in 1939. The Seashell Vases are one of his most appreciated works. This example is one of the large pieces from the collection. In the rare white glazed ceramic. Sculptural and decorative. Beautiful, natural patina. Signs of age and wear. No structural damages. There are two other versions of this vase in store at the moment.
