Vintage Brass Candlestick and Ashtray by Hayno Focken - Germany 1930s

About the Item

Brass Candlestick and Ashtray is an original decorative pair of objects realized in the second third of the XX Century. Original brass. Made in Germany. Created by Hayno Focken. This pair of objects includes: one brass candlestick (h. 23 cm ca) and one brass ashtray (13.5 cm ca). Good conditions: some normal signs of age. Beautiful pair of object realized in brass. The candelabrum presents a single slender arm on round base, curved in the lower part; there is a cylindrical candle on a drip tray. The Brass Ashtray presents a round mirror merging into the curved rim with two storage troughs. Both the objects are hammered decorated. The works has been designed by Hayno Focken (Lahr, 1905 - 1968) a German metal artist and silversmith. Hayno Focken completed an apprenticeship with Professor Karl Müller at the Design and Art School in Halle, which was linked to the ideas of Bauhaus. Focken, who was based in Lahr, created mainly sacred equipment. Other works, such as his 1949 silver coffee pot, are in the style of Art Déco.
