Technical Description A magnificent set of three matching cranberry glass claret jugs with the original silver-plated frame dating to c1880. The decanters have their original silver plated crown stopper with cork bases. Clear glass handle. A truly stunning antique and in superb condition. An exceptionally rare piece.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian acid etched glass and English sterling silver mounted claret jug; an addition to our wine and drink related silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and cut glass claret jug has a circular, rounded bulbous form. The cylindrical neck of the jug is fitted with an impressive sterling silver, hallmarked mount embellished with impressive chased floral spray decoration on a matte background, all encompassed with a plain border accented with simple drop motifs. The decoration to the mount incorporates an oval vacant cartouche to either side. The underside of the plain spout features a simplified quatrefoil floral motif encompassed with a lozenge shaped border. The mount retains the original hinged, hallmarked cover encompassed with further floral decoration and surmounted with an impressive pierced interlacing scrolling leaf decorated thumb piece.
