Postmodern Serving Tray in Stainless Steel and Glass by Michael Graves, 2000 USA

About the Item

This 2000 serving tray embodies Michael Graves' postmodern way of making everyday objects noble and accessible in a Postmodern way. Thick and round, the silicone handles have a good grip and feel soft at the same time. They recall the similarly thick and round handles of Michael Graves' acclaimed designs for Alessi. Their blue color is also a strong Michael Graves signature. The stainless steel rim generously circles an almost industrial frosted glass bottom fixed by rivets. A well balanced design: delicate like glass and strong like stainless steel. The tray bears the embossed signature of Michael Graves. A wonderful piece between art deco and postmodernity. The serving tray comes new and unused. It is a dead stock that comes with a used cardboard box. The tray is untouched. Measures: W 19" x D 14.5" x H 1.75".

Handmade architectural birdhouse by Jason Sargenti, hand-signed dated, USA 2020. "Inspired by the Flamingo side-table by Michele de Lucchi for Memphis 1984.The influence of the Memphis and Studio Alchimia are touchstone for me. Movements misunderstood, hated, incomprehensible, to most my peers, cause of consternation, passion and debate on what is supposed to be good taste. Still so pregnant with life and vibrancy, yet aloof to humans in 2020. Less original more of a hommage." J Sargenti Made of inpainted sandpaper and somber pattern painted wood. 8” x 5” x 6” The Flamingo birdhouse is a brilliant re-interpretation of the landmark Memphis Group Flamingo side table designed by Michele de Lucchi. Memphis creations have now crossed time, generations and fashions to become pinacle events in design history and art, still breathing creative freedom and radicalism into today’s design creations. Called the Flamingo side table, Michele de Lucchi’s icon has been entirely remodeled by Jason Sargenti who made it stand in the manner of a Z-shaped Flamingo silhouette. All the original elements of the Memphis Flamingo...
