About the Item
This is a very good teapot stand in the fence, rock and gold flower pattern made by Mason's Ironstone in the early 19th century Georgian period, circa 1813-1820
Teapot stand's by Mason's Ironstone are rare items and this is a very early one, manufactured circa 1815.
This stand is circular and is heavily potted with a stronger foot rim and a heavily supported central rimmed stand to support a tea pot or small tureen.
The pattern is hand painted over-glaze with typical bold enamels and a large flower painted in Gold, possibly over an under-glaze transfer printed outline. This pattern is one of Mason's earliest Chinoiserie influenced designs called the "Fence, Rock and Gold Flower", as illustrated on page 89 of a guide to Mason's patent ironstone patterns, circa 1813-1848, published by The Mason's Collectors' Club.
The base carries the single line impressed mark stating "Mason's Patent Ironstone China", dating this piece to circa 1815-1820.
