Georgian Mason's Ironstone Dinner Plate Hand Painted rare Blue Carnation Pattern

US$355.99

About

This distinctive ironstone pottery dinner plate was made by the Mason's factory at Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England and is hand decorated in the "Blue Carnation" pattern which is a rare pattern, fully marked and dating to the earliest period of Mason's Ironstone production, circa 1815. The plate is potted with a radial fluted rim section and a wavy rim. The decoration is one of Mason's English floral patterns called "Blue Carnation", which is a rarer hard to find pattern, showing Carnations in two shades of blue with gold detailed embellishment. The pattern is illustrated on Page 39 of a Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns, circa 1813-1848, produced by The Mason's Collectors Club. The base has the single line impressed factory mark; MASON's PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA, which is recorded as being one of the earliest impressed marks indicating a date of circa 1813-1820, making this plate one of the earliest pieces of Mason's, as their Ironstone was only produced from 1813, which is late George 111 period. Overall a very distinctive and decorative Masons ironstone dinner plate in a rare pattern and lovely condition.
