Saint Amand et Hamage Green French Faïence Asparagus Plate, 1930s

About the Item

A French faïence Asparagus plate with a leaf shaped dipping well for sauce, from Saint Amand et Hamage, circa 1930s. Glazed in the Orchies region signature green, the plate is modeled on a group of asparagus, tied and lying side by side. A deep sauce well is shaped as a large leaf. The plate sits on a raised rear footing. Saint-Amand-les-Eaux is in northern France. Pottery from this region was been produced under the names, Faïence et Porcelaine St. Amand-Orchies-Hamage or Manufacture de Faïence Moulin des Loups-Hamage. The Saint-Amand factories closed their doors in the early 1950s. A master server in this pattern is available for creating a service, offered separately. 10.5 in. Diameter x 1.5 in. H Multiple plates are available, all in good condition. All plates show some glaze loss to the high points of the sauce well. One plate has a loss to the rear footing not affecting the seating. Beautiful color.
