Set of Seven Bright Red MCM 1960s Italian Empoli Art Glass Decanters Vases Jars

About the Item

Very pretty collectible set in a very special colour bright red. Seven 1960s Italian Empoli and Opaline glass decanters, carafe, apothecary jars. Measurements from highest to lowest: Large blown glass carafe with clear foot and clear stopper 57cm high, Ø 13cm (22.4"x 5.1") High narrow hand blown swirl glass vase 32cm high, Ø 9cm (12.6"x3.5") Opaline belly pot, inside orange, with clear lid 26cm high, Ø 19cm (10.2"x7.5") Hand blown frivolous and hand decorated candy dish with clear lid 26cm high, Ø 16cm (10,2"x6,3") Hand blown cognac glass with optic design and clear foot, 25cm high, Ø 16cm (9.8"x6.3") Hand blown vase with clear handle 25cm high, Ø 13 (9.8"x5.1") Brutalist 'half moon' shaped heavy pressed glass with 'ball' stopper, 24cm high, 19cm wide and 6cm deep (9.5"x7.5"x2.4") Mention Italian glass and probably everyone’s mind immediately leaps to Venice and Murano. But there is another almost equally famous centre of Italian glass making known as Empoli. Empoli glass is generally much simpler and does not have the intricately applied trim or decorations associated with Venetian and Murano pieces. The simple traditional styles of Empoli glass were quickly adapted to the abstract shapes of mid 20th century modernism. It became hugely popular as a decorative home accent, and was exported across the world. Now they are highly sought after by international collectors and look beautiful arranged together.
