Celeste Aqua Blue Porcelain Tureen and Underplate by Thomas Bavaria, circa 1930
About the Item
A large beautiful porcelain tureen with a plate in Celeste aqua blue color with gold painted decoration made by Thomas Bavaria.
The tureen has four romantic courtship scenes on the body and four on the lid, along with gold painted floral swags and beading. Handles, legs, and beautiful scalloped edge are gold painted as well. The platter has a subtle scalloped form, accentuated by gilt trim. Six romantic vignettes are featured along the edge as well as gold painted flowers and beading. Heavy gilding throughout, including raised details on the floral motifs and gold dots.
Marked for Thomas Bavaria and written "Gold Guarantee."
Excellent condition.
