About
Made from stoneware and signed on the base by ‘G.Métenier’ for Gilbert Metenier. An artist potter who worked from 1907 until 1940 noted for his variety of shapes and interesting experimental glaze effects of the Arts and Crafts Movement. The work of Metenier is becoming increasingly prized by a growing number of discriminating collectors.
A two handled plump pot which exhibits allows the crystalline glaze to be viewed at it’s best and an attractively shaped neck. Signed with his familiar signature in black under the base. The golden ochre flambe glaze runs down over an exquisite molten blue of vibrant luminosity, it also flows marginally down into the interior. In perfect state, that is original condition which include several blisters in the glazing.
