19th Century English Dessert Service

About the Item

A very ornate burgundy red and gilt dessert service with lidded compotiers and serving plates, each piece hand-painted with a floral design on a painted backdrop . The borders are embossed with white and gilt leaf designs, the all very highly decorated and probably made for a special occasion. English, possibly Ridgway or Daniel, circa 1850.

    Wear consistent with age and use. The 3 rectangular plates are 28 cm by 23 cm.The 3 leaf shaped dishes are 23 cm by 19 cm.2 oval dishes are 28 cm by 19 cm. 2 of the dishes have very minor age lines.
