Antique and Vintage Sterling Silver Canteen of Cutlery for 12 Persons

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique and vintage English sterling silver Trefid style pattern flatware service for 12 persons; an addition to our antique flatware sets. The pieces of this exceptional antique and vintage sterling silver flatware set have been crafted in a variation of the early Trefid pattern. The surface of each handle terminal is embellished with the contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a cat's head. Each spoon features an impressive classic rat tail ornamentation to the reverse of the bowl. The original sterling silver forks have three tines/prongs. This sterling silver flatware set consists of 62 pieces: Basic service: 12 table forks 12 table spoons 12 soup spoons 12 dessert forks 12 dessert spoons Additional pieces: Pair of sauce ladles The antique George V six place setting of the basic service were crafted by the London silversmiths Finnigans Ltd in 1917, whereas the remaining setting including the sauce ladles were made by Garrard & Co Ltd in 1968; each piece has the same gauge of silver and it can be determined the same die was used during production of the vintage service. This antique flatware service is supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduce tarnishing. Condition This solid silver flatware set is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the superior gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine and impressive canteen of cutlery.
