19th Century Sterling Silver Agricultural Trophy Cup, Hallmarked London 1876

The very ample goblet-shaped body atop a ringed stem rising from spreading circular foot, the interior having a faint gilt wash, the exterior engraved on one side "Royal Counties, Hants & Berks Agricultural Society, 1876”, and on the opposing side “Awarded to Mr. Heber Humfrey, Kingston’s Farm Shrivenham, Owner of the Best Berkshire Boar Over 12 Mos. of Age”. Bearing Hallmarks for London with date mark for 1876 and partially rubbed makers marks for Robert Harper. Weight, 201 grams (6.46 troy ounces).
