Antique Art Deco Pair of Sterling Silver Bon Bon Dishes

About the Item

A fine pair of antique George V English sterling silver bon bon dishes made by RE Stone Art Deco style - boxed; an addition to our diverse Art Deco silverware collection. These fine antique George V sterling silver dishes have a circular rounded form. The surface of these antique silver dishes are plain and have a planished finish. Each quaich-like dish is fitted with two angular handles crafted in the Art Deco style. The underside of each silver dish is clearly signed by the renowned and very collectable silversmith R.E.Stone. These fine bon bon dishes are fitted to the original hinged leatherette presentation box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with a push fit catch. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'Wilson & Sharp Ltd, Diamond Merchants, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths, 139 Princess Street, Edinburgh'. Condition These antique dishes are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition. The presentation box shows some markings to the interior lining, but overall, the box is in excellent condition in keeping with age. Full hallmarks, including the maker's signature, struck to the underside of each dish are all very clear.     A magnificent, fine and impressive, large pair of antique George V English sterling silver bowls / centrepieces in the Art Nouveau style, an addition to our presentation silverware collection. These magnificent and large antique George V English sterling silver bowls/centrepieces have a compressed circular form onto a knopped pedestal and domed circular foot. The plain body of each piece is encircled with an impressive band of applied and chased olive leaf festoon decoration consisting of overlapping leaf designs with a bead motif to subdivision. Both sides of each piece is further ornamented with exceptional and large applied vacant cartouche bordered with a ribbon tied oak and olive branch, in addition to a scrolling and leaf motif to the upper portion. The upper portions of these concaved cartouches are subtly elevated and joined to the moulded decoration to the shaped rim. These antique silver bowls are fitted with impressive and large Art Nouveau style scrolling handles with plain plateaued upper portions and subtle thumbpieces.
