Antique Glass and Sterling Silver Combination Vesta Box and Match Striker
About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver and glass combination vesta box and match striker; an addition to our ornamental collection.
This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and glass combination vesta box and match striker has a globular form.
The surface of the glass body is embellished with a serrated texture which composes a match striker.
The upper portion of this antique glass match striker retains the original, plain hallmarked sterling silver mount, fitted with a plain subtly domed cover; the cover is a fine feature and indicates the high quality of the piece.
Such antique silver hinged, covered examples are rare to the market.
By virtue of its size and weight, this versatile match striker could be utilised as a paperweight.
Condition
This Victorian match striker/vesta box mount is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the mount and part hallmarks to the surface of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique glassware.
