Dutch Sterling Decorative Server
About the Item
A very rare silver server from The Netherlands, late 19th century. It can definitely be used but it’s so beautiful that it’s worth hanging up for display. On the top of the handle a man carries a net and further down another man holds a fishing pole. At the very bottom six men are seen sitting around, in the background a ship is seen against a lattice pattern. The men seem to be sitting around talking, possibly planning their next excursion. Along the very bottom the inscription reads in Dutch “Peter The Great, 1697 at Laamdam”. Im guessing that was a destination of his and his crew. Either way, it’s a beautiful decorative piece of European silver!!
