Hallmarked in London in 1716 by Lewis Mettayer, this striking, George I, Antique Britannia Standard Silver Cup & Cover, features strap work to the body and lid, acanthus detailed handles and an engraved armorial to one side. The lid of the cup is unmarked. The cup & cover measures 10.75"(27.5cm) tall, by 10"(25.5cm) over the handles, by 6"(15cm) deep, and weighs 53.8 troy ounces.

    A spectacular set of three silver trophy cups in the George III style, one larger and a pair of smaller. Each has a removable lid with hand-chased acanthus leaf detail, a decoration which is also found round the bodies, and cast finial. The handles are realistically cast as sinuously entwined snakes, the heads of which are holding rings that appear to be supporting hand-chased drapes that hang round the body of each cup.     A magnificent, fine and impressive, large antique Edwardian English sterling silver cup & cover; an addition to our antique presentation silverware collection. This magnificent and large antique Edwardian sterling silver presentation cup and cover has a Campania shaped form onto a circular spreading pedestal foot. The lower bulbous portion of the silver cup is encircled with chased fluted ornamentation. Either side of the plain upper portion of the body of this cup is embellished with an exceptional and large applied ribbon tied laurel branch wreath, replicating the border of a classic cartouche. This impressive Edwardian presentation cup retains the impressive, original hallmarked push fit cover surmounted with an exceptional, fine and impressive cast sterling silver overlapping leaf and bud style finial. The rim of this substantial cover is encompassed with an impressive applied egg and dart decorated border. This antique cup and cover is fitted with two very impressive cast sterling silver handles modelled in the form of conjoined snakes, above a figural mask and Caduceus. The pedestal is encompassed with a shaped alternating leaf decorated knop to the upper portion in junction with the body.
