About the Item
Sterling silver tea pot by William Plummer, London, circa 1797. The oval shape has half reeded, fluted decoration on the body, top and curved spout. The lid with an ‘invisible’ hinge is topped by a oval wooden and sterling silver finial. The tea pot with clearly struck hallmarks on the base with the maker's mark ‘MP’ for Michael Plummer, London town mark, date letter ‘B’ (1797), sterling standard mark and duty mark of George III. The inside of the lid is also marked with the sterling standard. See photo of Plummer Tea Pot in MET collection. Weight is 16.62 Troy ozs.
