This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver commemorative box has a plain rectangular form with rounded corners. The subtly domed hinged cover of the box retains the original transfer depicting portraits of King Edward VII and Alexandra of Denmark in addition to the coat of arms of Leeds. The cover is further ornamented with the presentation details ‘7th July 1908, Wilfred L Hepton Lord Mayor, Souvenir of the visit to Leeds, of the King and Queen. Presented by the Lord Mayor’. This impressive novelty pepperette is embellished with engraved decoration reproducing the details of the gentleman's overcoat, in addition to applied curvilinear arms. This Chester silver pepper retains the original hallmarked push fit cover/head which features pierced 'pepper' holes to the plateau of the hat. The impressive cover is further embellished with applied details replicating the figure's motor vehicle driving goggles. This impressive antique model stands to a plain circular weighted base and retains the original leatherette cover to the underside. The base bears the registration number 'REGD No 490421', in addition to the full hallmarks. This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver sugar caster has a baluster shaped form onto a spreading domed foot. The body of this large caster is embellished with impressive embossed and chased floral and scrolling leaf decoration, incorporating three scroll bordered cartouches; two feature a scale motif diaper pattern background and the other remains vacant. The silver caster retains the original hallmarked push fit cover, embellished with impressive panels of pierced decoration amidst scrolling floral spray and trellis decoration. These exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver menu holders have been realistically modelled in the form of gamebirds, on plain circular bases. The species of birds include: grouse, a snipe, a pheasant and a partridge. Each cast silver bird is embellished with details reproducing the plumage and anatomical features. The birds are further embellished with impressive gem set eyes. These exceptional examples of antique silver are fitted with plain angular supports to the posterior surfaces. Each model surmounds a plain circular plateaued base. This impressive set of antique silver menu holders is fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, secured with a push fit catch. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'By Appointment, Mappin & Webb, Regent Street, London, W'.
