Antique Sterling Silver Four-Piece Tea and Coffee Service

A magnificent, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver four piece tea and coffee set; part of our silver teaware collection. This magnificent antique sterling silver tea and coffee set consists of a teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and sugar bowl. Each piece of this English silver tea service has a tapering circular, rounded form onto a swept foot. The body of each piece is ornamented with exceptional chased floral and fruit sprays to the lower portion, suspending from scrolling lozenge motifs. The upper portion is embellished with further chased decoration, reflecting a variety of leaf designs and textures. Each piece incorporates an elongated hexagonal vacant cartouche to either side. The tapering shoulders of the teapot and coffee pot, and the rim of the cream jug and sugar bowl are plain, with a plain applied moulded girdle to the lower portion. The teapot and coffee pot are both fitted with hinged, hallmarked, covers ornamented with an engraved sunburst design accented with leaf motifs to each incurve. Each cover is surmounted with the original, hallmarked cast sterling silver finial realistically modelled in the form of a lion rampant, holding in its hands a shield shaped cartouche. These shield shaped cartouches feature the contemporary engraved initials 'S'. The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with impressive hallmarked, C scroll handles ornamented with leaf decorated thumbpieces and sockets. The cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with C scroll handles reflecting the aforementioned design of the teapot and coffee pot. The teapot and coffee pot are both fitted with exceptional cast swan necked spouts, each incorporating a large scrolling leaf design to the socket and lip. The underside of each piece bears the retailer's mark 'Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England' This exceptional tea service is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition The pieces of this George V sterling silver tea and coffee set are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The interior of each piece has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. The chased and cast decoration is very sharp and the engraved ornamentation is very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece, in addition to part hallmarks as expected, struck to the teapot and coffee pot handles, finials and covers are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this Sheffield England silver tea set. One side of each piece incorporates a circular cartouche displaying the engraved initial 'B'. The upper rims are encompassed with plain applied moulded borders.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver four-piece tea and coffee service, an addition to our silver teaware collection This exceptional, antique Edwardian four piece sterling silver tea and coffee service consists of a coffee pot, teapot, cream jug and sugar basket. Each piece of this fine Chester silver tea set has an oval rounded form, all in the Queen Anne style. The body of each piece is ornamented with panels of fluted decoration, incorporating a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a wolf chained and collared to one side. The upper rim of each piece is ornamented with an applied moulded border. Both the coffee pot and teapot are fitted with hinged hallmarked domed covers surmounted by the original carved painted wood and sterling silver topped pineapple finials. The silver teapot and coffee pot retain the original carved painted wood handles, featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece. The cream jug is fitted with an elongated C shaped silver handle and the sugar basket a swing handle, each ornamented with reed decoration.     A fine, impressive and unusual antique Victorian English sterling silver composite four piece tea and coffee service / set in the Aesthetic style; part of our silver teaware collection. This exceptional and unusual Victorian sterling silver tea and coffee set consists of a coffee pot, a teapot, a cream jug and a sugar bowl. The pieces of this antique silver four piece tea and coffee service have a circular bulbous shaped form to a circular collet foot, all in the Aesthetic style. The unusual sugar bowl is supported by a pedestal style foot. Each piece is encircled with a bright cut engraved Greek key style fret band above large acanthus leaf designs. The teapot, coffee pot and cream jug feature two contemporary bright cut engraved crests depicting a battlement tower and a stork with the dexter claw resting upon a circular medallion with a lion rampant. The crests surmount the motto 'Esse Quam Videri' - To be, rather than to seem'. The silver coffee pot and teapot are fitted with hallmarked flat hinged covers embellished with bright cut engraved husk decorated border. Both covers are surmounted by an impressive sterling silver finial, realistically modelled in the form of a butterfly. The coffee pot, teapot and cream jug are fitted with plain C-shaped handles, each accented with impressive scroll decorated upper terminals in junction with the body. The antique teapot and coffee pot are fitted with plain swan necked spouts accented with bright cut engraved ornamentation to the lip. The coffee pot, sugar bowl and cream jug were made by the Birmingham silversmith William Gough of Gough & Silvester in 1866, whereas the teapot was assayed in London, 1870 and crafted by Samuel Smily at Goldsmiths Alliance Ltd.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver six piece bachelor tea and coffee service; an addition to our silver teaware collection This exceptional antique Victorian six piece sterling silver tea service / set consists of a spirit kettle, teapot, coffee pot, cream jug, sugar bowl and tea caddy. The pieces of this antique tea and coffee set have a circular baluster shaped form. This set benefits from a matching oval cylindrical tea caddy; often with time such a piece would be detached from a service. The surface of each piece is embellished with alternating horizontal panels of impressive chased simplified trellis patterns, leaf motifs and rosette designs. The upper rim of each piece is encompassed with an applied moulded decorated border. The spirit kettle, teapot, coffee pot and tea caddy retain the original hinged hallmarked covers, which feature a continuation of the aforementioned chased decoration. Each teaware cover retains the original cast sterling silver finial. The centre of the tea caddy cover incorporates an oval cartouche ornamented with a bright cut engraved coronet and monogram initials. The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with the original hallmarked cast sterling silver handles, embellished with chased ornamentation and plain scrolling thumbpieces. The spirit kettle is fitted with a large scrolling cast sterling silver handle, ornamented with scrolling leaf designs and impressive scrolling sockets. The fine and impressive kettle is supported on the original cast hallmarked detachable three-legged stand fitted with a locking pin and security chain. The stand is ornamented with further chased patterns, accented with scrolling leaf leg brackets to three tapering, scrolling legs and leaf decorated feet. The detachable hallmarked spirit burner is plain and unembellished, with an applied border. The spirit kettle, coffee pot and teapot have cast sterling silver swan necked spouts, each ornamented with panels of scrolling leaf and floral decoration to either side. The cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with sterling silver C shaped handles, reflecting the design of those to the teapot and coffee pot. The tea caddy, cream jug and sugar bowl retain the original gilt interiors. The underside of the tea kettle features the retailer's mark 'Hunt Roskell Late Storr & Mortimer' and the registration number '4852'.
