Vintage Peruvian Folk Art Framed Negreria Dance Cape

About the Item

A scarce framed fragment of "Negreria" dance cape, circa 1940s, Huayucachi, Junin, Peru. Dating to the mid-20th century, the rare large size South American textile folk art hand-crafted of bright colorful cotton, sequins, and mixed materials, depicting a woman and military officers mounted on horses from the War of the Pacific (1879-1884), polychrome floral accents, peacock bird, and various other decorative elements. Dimensions: (approx) Overall: 38.5" high, 24.5" wide, 3.75" deep Sight: 35" high, 20" wide 12lbs Beautiful rich coloring, warm detailing, and whimsical artistic styling, this distinctive one-of-a-kind work makes for a fascinating decorative object, hanging wall art, and interesting historical conversation piece!
