The Hilbers Chandelier is named for Brian Hilbers, a true California free spirit and the designer of Andrea’s first surfboard. About Pisces Pisces is perhaps Andrea’s most personal collection to date. An avid surfer whose ideal morning involves riding the waves in Malibu, she channeled the ocean’s fluid rhythms, sunlit hues, and sculptural contours in designing each of the fixtures. But her inspiration dives even deeper and surfaces even more specifically. Alone on the sea with her board, Andrea observed the mesmerizing movement of glowing kelp blades through the deep blue water. She thought about how the presence of kelp is a sign of a healthy ocean. An idea began to take shape. Back in her studio in Los Angeles, she brought her vision to life, choosing smooth, floating brass and undulating aqua-colored fiberglass to echo the textures and colors she had admired, and she and her team carefully engineered the elements to flow seamlessly around each other, wave-like. Even the fixture names, which honor iconic surfboard designers, hold special resonance for Andrea. The Hilbers Chandelier is named for Brian Hilbers, a true California free spirit (he has said that when it comes to surfboard design, “the only rules is no rules”) and the designer of Andrea’s first board. The McTavish Chandelier nods to pioneering Australian surfboard shaper Bob McTavish: "I only surf when it's at least 2 out of 10. That's about 300 days a year," he has famously said. Andrea rode one of his long boards for the first time on a birthday surf trip to Barbados. And the first two sconces in the Pisces collection, the Malcolm and the Jacob, pay tribute to the father-son surfboard designers renowned for their family business, Campbell Brothers surfboards. Andrea once attended a surf camp in Costa Rica where her room was adorned with a classic Campbell Brothers’ board, and it became a sort of totem for her experience there. The Pisces collection is customizable: Each chandelier can be installed individually or combined and tailored to a client’s needs. It can be adapted to any room, no matter the size, forever ebbing and flowing, much like the astrological sign for which it’s named.
