A large French Maria Theresa sixteen-light chandelier or ceiling light of faceted crystal, cut glass and gilt metal featuring serpentine arms, each candle light features floral designed glass, dangling pendants and decorative bobeche.
Beautiful shape and form makes this piece very elegant.
Perfectly made in the style of Maria Teresa, circa 1930s.
The "Maria Teresa" chandelier was born in the 18th century, around the middle of the 18th century, when the Empress of Austria, Maria Teresa, wanted a majestic chandelier for her noble palace. The Bohemian master craftsmen and the professionals of the Italian glass made it, which marked a historic stage in the world of lighting.
This beautiful antique style chandelier "Maria Teresa" has an iron body finished with gold dust with a very thin glass coating. The innumerable drops of lead crystal were hand cut and then carefully finished on grinding wheels one by one giving life to a real cascade of lights.
The chandelier is composed of 16 lights plus a central unit with E14 light bulb, has a diameter of 31 inches. The height is 33 inches adjustable with the current chain to the canopy measuring 46 inches (13 inch chain).
